The Day I Started to Live a Life of Character
I have a feeling I have walked in your shoes…or perhaps you are currently walking in mine!
Tell me if you can relate to some or all of this. My Dad, who was my hero, decided I no longer needed to be in his life when I was 10. The guy that taught me how to flyfish, ski, ride a bike and start a campfire all of a sudden decided that his life would be better without me. Thankfully, I had the most incredible Mother who sacrificed everything for me. I had a couple of older siblings who provided guidance and support throughout my younger years. But, something was missing!
Since the only adventure partner that I knew was now gone, I look to supplement my life with other things. I don’t need to go into detail but until I was 20 years old, I replaced that attention with anxiety, anger, frustration, lack of respect for my Mother and acting out. That was mostly on the inside! On the outside, I was the great athlete, good friend and seemingly the guy everyone could go to.
When I turned 20, I am not sure what caused it, but I decided to reach out and find my father. I found him and set up a time to meet. After 10 years I was going to see him again. We met on a summer day, chatted about life and this is where my life changed…I forgave him for leaving.
The reason this is important is because it was the first time I had practiced forgiveness and the first day I started living a life of CHARACTER. Since then, I live each day (or at least try to!) full of character such as empathy, love, compassion, understanding and a never-ending drive to make life full!
Why is this story important? Because I bet you can relate to some part of that story. Now, 35 years later, I have the knowledge, passion, and commitment to assist people in living a life of character. When you do, doors will begin to open, opportunities will knock on your door every day, and you will live a much happier life for yourself.
All you need to do is make the first step to introduce yourself to me and let’s have a dialogue of what part of the story you relate to! That is the perfect place to start!
I really look forward to chatting and learning more about where you came from, currently are and, just as importantly, where you want to go!
Cheers!
Chris
